NCS
The National Childcare Scheme is a landmark new Scheme for Ireland.
It is the first ever statutory entitlement to financial support for childcare. It establishes an equitable and progressive system of universal and income-related subsidies for children up to the age of 15.
It also provides an innovative and user-friendly online application process to access those subsidies.
Through all of the above, the National Childcare Scheme aims to improve children’s outcomes, support lifelong learning, make work pay, reduce child poverty and tangibly reduce the cost of quality childcare for thousands of families across Ireland.

ECCE
The ECCE Scheme was announced by the government in April 2009 and was introduced in January 2010.
The ECCE scheme runs over 38 weeks from September to June each year following St. Kilian’s JNS calendar. Parents can send their children for additional hours outside the ECCE scheme and will be charged at the current hourly rate for these additional hours.
The ECCE scheme provides 2 years free Pre-school education to every child in Ireland aged between 2 years 8 months and 5 years 6 months on 1st September each year.
Kathy b’s Montessori runs a morning and an afternoon ECCE class daily.
Daily sessions include, free play, rolla, lots of outdoor imaginary play, table top Montessori lessons, snack time, arts & crafts, dancing, music and lots, lots more. The children spend as much time as possible outdoors where part of their lessons take place in our outdoor barn.
Places are in high demand and early booking is recommended to avoid disappointment.
At Kathy b’s we see first-hand every year how each child benefits from attending Montessori. Our aim is to help each child be ready both socially and emotionally for Primary school by encouraging each child to be independent and to teach them the basic practical life skills they will need in Primary School.
Our daily routine helps each child adapt to the classroom environment and be prepared for their new environment when they leave Kathy b’s. Our qualified staff ensure each child’s individual needs are met, daily and weekly feedback is provided through the Little Vista app where parents can link in with their child’s teacher directly.
Parents are encouraged to take part in our Partnership with Parent’s week and our charity days. Parent / teacher meetings take place for all children graduating every year.
At Kathy b’s we ensure that each child gets the best possible start learning in a safe, happy and sociable environment.
